SMH-UXB

A Joint Venture in support of the Rapid Prototyping Technology Initiative (RPTI)
with the Department of the Army, U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC).

The purpose of the RPTI contract is to increase Armament, Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC) responsiveness in meeting its customers’ immediate requirements. To support the Global War on Terror (GWOT), ARDEC’s mission has expanded to include providing expedited developmental solutions to meet the warfighter’s needs at various stages throughout the product lifecycle. Current needs demand the rapid delivery of working lethality and counter lethality solutions within weeks to no more than 1 year after receiving a requirement. RPTI provides a responsive contracting vehicle to meet the warfighter’s immediate field requirements to counter the ever-changing threats on the battlefield. ARDEC will depend on the RPTI contract vehicle to maintain momentum on key Army munitions, lethality and counter-lethality and capabilities, and fielding solutions.
ARDEC’s armament related products and services includes the cradle to grave activities associated with the research, development, engineering, prototyping, system improvements, and test support of ammunition, weapons, energetics (explosives, pyrotechnics, propellants), warheads, fire control, sensors and seekers, fuse products, novel weapon concepts, protection, assembly, packaging, demilitarization (disassembly, removal, recovery, reuse, destruction), and environmentally required waste treatments.
